Initiative box

Why to define it?

Engaging in certain or significant activities with other people is about our own well-being and about staying true to our own interests.

Initiative box

What activities do we want to cultivate in our life and which of those add significant value to share with another person?

“Value-based interactions require value-based activities”

When to use it?

Often. Initiating activities with ‘intention’ will make us feel more fulfilled because we are leading from what’s important to us.

Why to define it?

Initiating activities with an ‘intention’ is a value-based way of relating.

You need a degree of insight into what interests you, inspires and motivates you, and makes you feel happy and content. Initiating and engaging in certain or significant activities with other people, or significant people, is about your own well-being and staying true to your own interests. Then you relate to yourself and to others in a value-based way. Some activities can be nice to do, while others are significant to do. Some are important to do alone, while others are important to share with someone. Doing activities together also reveals whether you share common interests and “how” the other participates in your initiatives and interests.

In My Core Journey’s third step, you will process yourself once again at your core.

In this step, we tune into what we enjoy doing and also which activities we need to share with others to feel that we have a meaningful relationship. What activities make us flourish?

The exercise brings us closer to ourselves, but suggesting and taking initiatives is also a way to maintain a balance in terms of mutual contributions; this way, we don’t fall into a passive follower role. Generally, shared activities provide insight into the other person’s personality and adaptability, but they also reveal our own, which is excellent for us to reflect on. Activities can disclose valuable information about ourselves and the other person.

The initiative box is consciously used to cultivate value-based relationships.

When to use it?

Practicing to intentionally suggest activities will ensure that you maintain a balance in terms of shared activities. It will also ensure that you can determine whether this relationship truly adds value to your life and to what extent it does. Interests are related to our values and help us choose the relationships we build. Relating in a value-based way means many things, but it also means making conscious decisions about shared activities based on your own needs and interests.
